I have had the opportunity to watch Coach Carolyn King lead the St. Anselm College Field Hockey program, and I cannot say enough about the positive impact she has had on her student-athletes and the overall success of the program. Coach King is an exceptional leader who genuinely cares about each player, not only as an athlete but as a person. She takes a holistic approach to coaching, placing equal importance on academics, personal growth, well-being, and athletic performance. She creates an environment where student-athletes feel supported, challenged, and empowered to reach their full potential both on and off the field. What stands out most is her ability to balance high expectations with genuine care and mentorship. She knows her players as individuals and takes an active interest in their academic success, personal development, and overall college experience. Her commitment to developing strong, confident, and resilient young women is evident in the culture she has built within the program. Coach King's leadership has also produced remarkable results. Under her direction, St. Anselm Field Hockey has achieved significant competitive success, including a Division II National Championship and numerous conference and postseason accomplishments. While the wins and championships are impressive, what is equally notable is the way she achieves them, through discipline, teamwork, accountability, and a commitment to excellence. She fosters a culture where athletes learn leadership, responsibility, and perseverance, skills that extend far beyond the playing field. Her players graduate not only as stronger athletes but as better prepared professionals and community members. Coach King represents everything a collegiate coach should be: a proven leader, an outstanding mentor, and a passionate advocate for her student-athletes. Her dedication, integrity, and ability to develop successful teams and successful young women make her an invaluable asset to St. Anselm College and a role model for those fortunate enough to play for her.

My coach cares about her players on and off the field. Like every coach there is hardship shared. But at the end of the day you can tell she is there for her players and values our lives outside of the sport as well. Coach King was hands-down the best coach I’ve ever had in my athletic career! She is knowledgeable in the sport, has high expectations for her athletes, is an excellent listener and communicator, is always able to find time for you, and is an incredible role model! She built every aspect of this program to what it is today and was a major factor in my decision to attend Saint A’s. Coach King is a knowledgeable, dedicated, and respectful coach. She cares a lot about all of her athletes and the program in general. She has a wonderful reputation and is an even better person after you get to know her. Over the past 3 years, coach King has helped me develop not only my field hockey skills, but myself as a whole person. When recruiting she not only looks for skill, but more importantly looks at who you are as a person. I think this says a lot about who she is and her coaching style. With that being said, the team culture is wonderful. We are truly one big family. I have loved being part of her program and making history alongside my wonderful teammates!
