Dave Schwarz has his idea of tennis and if your style of play doesn't fit within his idea of how the game should be played then you were immediately not a favorite. I wasn't a top recruit at my school but had very good doubles results and competed in singles with a lot of my teammates. The biggest faux pas of all was that he tried to cut me from the team prior to my first year (for context, the previous coach that had actually recruited me was fired just before my freshman year)

I had a different coach for freshman and sophomore year, so my current coach was not present during my recruiting process.
