Good luck, especially if you’re unlucky enough to be on the mens team… the culture has shifted a whole 180 since he took over. He is currently being carried by athletes that are talented, but next year he’ll have a much harder time.

Very caring coach. Takes his athletes successes in sports, school, and life very personally and will be a life long mentor for me. His training is very strongly based in science but he’s very intuitive with it as well. He is not “old school“ but rather listens to what facts say. After 4 years at LSU he has adapted training to fit the needs of typically underdeveloped aerobic highschool runners to bring a beautiful combination of speed and endurance to the middle distance events. He is primarily an 800/1500 coach but excels greatly in the 3000 and 3000 SC as well. Unlike many D1 coaches, Franks is not a yeller. He has high expectations but never puts down an athlete. Great coach, respectable person.
