My experience at Albany started with some personal issues which affected my housing when I got to campus. Coach Kaier (and Mueller to a lessor extent) was in touch with me and helped me all the way through. Baseball was what got me through alot and my friends and coaches really helped. I think Coach wants to win and can be intense but hes also fair, players who come and dont play alot probably look at differently but I loved it and miss it everyday.

I don't even know where to start. Worst coach I've ever had and all of my teammates at UA would say the same. Even the best players who had "good" careers here would still tell you Jeff and Mueller are horrible coaches. Outside of coaching, Kaier is genuinely just a bad person. he could NOT care less how you are mentally as he constantly puts you down and makes you feel lesser of a person. Kaier's coaching style is belittling you and making you feel like you've never seen a baseball in your life. Don't even think about pleading your case as you are "making excuses" as he'd say. I can confidently say Kaier is the least personable coach/person I have ever met in my career. You'd think as a division 1 baseball coach you'd want to form a relationship with your players to ultimately put confidence in your team and let them know you, as a coach, have their back. That could not be further from the truth when discussing Jeffrey Kaier. Don't even think about trying to be friendly with Jeff because that will be shot down right away. Kaier loves to take your confidence, snap it in half, and throw it into Varsity pond as you are no longer going to be the player you used to be, you are now Jeffs minion. The positive reviews/experiences for Jeff or Mueller are the very few out of hundreds if not thousands of players who had unfortunately had to go through the same distressing experience my teammates and I went through. Overall, If you are reading this while considering Albany as a potential place to play college baseball, PLEASE do not do it to yourself.

This man is a menace. Treats players like garbage. Kicks them when they're down, yells at them, gets mad at them for minor things and punishes players. Insists on running all practices and managing bullpen and won't allow batting or pitching coaches to make any decisions. Awful third base coach. There is literally nothing positive about this man. Do not play for this team!

Jeff Kaier is not a good coach, but that isn't my real issue. It's the mental angst and dare I say trauma he puts his players through. The Albany Baseball program will never be successful under someone like Kaier. Mueller is lazy and doesn't care at all, Kaier is abusive. The guy has serious mental issues Stay away

Kaier is a terrible communicator. Knee jerk reactions as a coach. Cant manage a bullpen or pitching staff. Has a losing mentality, gets out coached weekly and has no respect from his players. The fact that he's a D1 coach is disrespectful to the rest of D1 coaching staffs. Has capable coaches under him and tries to run the show himself. Game is too fast for him, horrible third base coach. Makes poor decision after poor decision. No character development whatsoever, he should not be around college kids at all.

Coach kaier is a joke! This guy shouldn’t be able to coach at the college level. Has now knowledge of how to recruit players to make U Albany a decent D1 baseball program! If I was the AD at UAlbany I would definitely promote coach jones to the assistant coach position and get ride of Kaier once and for all!

With the AD in the stands you would have thought the outcome would be different. Game 7 on 5/24 depicts the tone of the season by just looking at 2 innings- the first and the 5th. Pitching decisions should be left to the pitching coach. The 5th inning speaks for itself- everyone knows Kaier ran those boys out of the inning, deflated their spirit and ended the season. Good luck- same mistakes over and over again- no lessons learned.

In order to write a review a star rating was needed. If negative stars was an option that would be accurate for this person - coach should not associated with his name. He is not knowledgeable or positive. what he is is overly intense and fosters a negative team culture. The blame lies above, because he is allowed to take on responsibilities beyond his scope which are not contributing to a winning season but instead are fostering a negative atmosphere. That being said the athletic director has had plenty of years to do his part and nothing has been done even though it has been brought to his attention. Maybe he should have every player and every parent that sit through these games and for the players practices and give you their insights, stories and negative conversations that are occurring.
