A great guy and a players coach. He does play favorites but so does every coach. Not sure that he can coach a winning club with his style. There has been problems winning with him. Many people have mixed opinions and has been known to be skeptical of paying to play.

Coach Russo is a good guy and is good to his players but is not good enough to win at the division 1 level. He has had a decade of losing seasons at Hofstra.

A player's coach. He is very straight forward and honest with you. He wants the best for his players and truly cares about them.

If you're from long island and connected in ways that can help him then this may not be a bad choice ... if you enjoy losing. His favoritism is awful, his hitting knowledge is even worse and he won't be there much longer. I've never seen daddy ball at the college level but I do remember it when I was 7. It's worse here.

John Russo is the worst coach I have played for in my career. Not only is he not honest but he is extremely two faced. He knows next to nothing on the game of baseball, and ruins the game for his players. He is unfit to run a division 1 program let alone coach kids. Along with that he basically responds to a parent who donates.

Coach Russo is a complete player's coach but sometimes makes questionable decisions. Overall average coach.

John Russo is the worst coach in the CAA and may be the worst coach in the northeast. He relies on a booster parent who runs the team in a GM role proving players, coaches, facilities and who knows what else. It reminded me of daddy ball when I was in middle school. All to help one player reach his and the dad's goals. If you're not from LI do not go here. You will hate baseball soon after Russo and his cronies start coaching you. Stay away, his record speaks for itself.
