One of the worst coaches in history. The fact that he's been at the school as long as he has been is truly shocking and shows you how low of a priority women's soccer is at Lafayette. M**k and his assistant Brian are emotionally and verbally abusive. Numerous players have either stopped playing or transferred to other programs, myself included. He's all about having a professional reputation and program but has done nothing to earn it first. He is incredibly disrespectful to his players, including berating them and embarrassing them in front of others but also does so behind close doors. The team's consistent dismal results season after season are further everyone evidence that he has never, in the entirety of his tenure, produced a team that can play together or even string a few wins together out of desperation. Program is a circus. M**k Statham is the clown.

Was coached by M**k at Lafayette - he couldn't care less about you the moment you graduate. While I was there, as a team, we were always a step behind our opponents. Each year I wonder why he's still there or hope the program will have more success. Neither ever happen. Its disheartening to see he's still there with his win/loss record and that Lafayette just doesn't seem to care nor take the women's soccer program seriously.

Coach has been in this job far too long, and got comfortable even though the results are pretty bad each and every year. Recruiting is pretty much non-existent, and would just take on recruits without even seeing them play actual games. During recruiting, make sure to ask where he sees you - immediate impact or year 2, year 3, etc. Style of play is the same no matter the opponent - just kick the ball as hard as you can. It's appalling how he treats some players for no apparent reason. This program is no more than a high school PE class, and fitness is not a priority. Players don't care for him, but just go along because he can be very vindictive. PRO TIP: make sure to spend time in his office, and you will get minutes.

I had the best college soccer experience and it was all thanks to Coach. I had a terrible finally season of club and coach made me love soccer again. His experience playing pro in England and his coaching endeavors have led me to respect his decisions. He cares so much about our growth during soccer and our future afterwards. He is simply the best.

For all of the answers I chose as strongly agree, I can say that I've never felt more about a coach, let alone an adult figure, before. He cares about all of the players so much in every aspect of their life including academic, athletic, social, emotional, learning, etc. and wants each of us to be as successful as possible. He has an extremely positive attitude and makes great strides to give each player a great experience. Also is one of the most intelligent people I have met.
