Awful coach, and awful person. Would never recommend him.

Honestly astonishing that he was Columbia’s coach. Never met a more incompetent man in my life. If someone made a documentary of his coaching, people would say it was was scripted and too far fetched. If you took someone off the street and gave them a 2 week run down on rowing, they would do a better job. I had high school novice assistant coaches with more knowledge of the sport.

Scott was generally a disorganized coach who was not very knowledgeable about training for athletics let alone rowing. Before practice sessions when asked what the plan was, he admitted he didn't have one and that he would "shoot from the hip." Not very motivational or inspiring, Scott seemed more concerned with not rocking the boat.
