The most amazing coach anyone could ask for! Very passionate about the game and loves his athletes. He's always there to support you no matter what journey you take or the next steps you take in your life.

Count Count coached me when I was in undergrad at AU and TBH he isn't that great of a coach in general as much as he is a good person. It's a well known thing on the team amongst the athletes and alum that even though he has conference champions and like two NCAA qualifiers (only 2 out of the long time he's been there. One was like recent after years from his first one) the athletes that do well only are that way because they came into the school good then their 2nd year they do bad and get worse and get hurt. If you jump with him you are bound to get hurt. He hasn't really made anyone good if that makes sense. But like he is very motivational and has a great personality but he doesn't really know how to coach in depth. He is extremely old school which does not work because I would burn out from the endless hills over the summer to the point where I was shot after preseason. Then I started to regress and was getting hurt too many times, I ended up just opting not to finish out my eligibility. I also was going to try and switch to Hj because of injuries but saw he CANNOT coach high jump. I'm not trying to be mean but in all honesty he is a terrible high jump coach He is also very petty and will hold grudges. one of my teammates even stopped working with him and ironically when he left Count he ended up winning two conference titles and two school records with the other coach and then they refused to let any of us work with the other coach it was funny. But a lot of the jumpers I came in with him ended up leaving the team and opting not to finish their eligibility because of him. I don't know how he is now because I graduated a few seasons ago but I just found this site and thought I would share my experience. But above anything I will say if you are considering Adelphi as a jumper (he wasn't the sprint or hurdles coach when I was there. I think he still is only the jumps coach) look at other options before committing. Count is a good person but you really wont excel under him. Like you will laugh and stuff and he brings food to meets but if you are serious about wanting to do well and improve, I would look elsewhere. He also for some reason barely takes the jumpers to the pit. We always had to jump in the half court even when there was a track around the corner and because of that I would always foul in meets.

First do not let these semi positive reviews fool you. Katie is TERRIBLE! I fully am surprised that she is still employed there. She is mainly the distance coach but when I first came there as a freshman the sprint coach was fired for sexual harassment apparently and so she tried to be the Sprints coach herself but had no idea what she was doing. She had us doing so much volume and didnt care to listen to any of us sprinters on our concerns. The jumps coach is also not so good at all but he's funny so it makes up for it. It seems Katie hated the other coach who coached the multis athletes because they had so much tension but tbh he was so nice and a good coach. Everyone really liked him but she would always try to bash him or not allow him to really fully coach I felt so bad for him. Like these two athletes even tried to fight him and he seemed so helpless and Katie did nothing about it. I was a freshman so I didnt know what was going on fully at the time but Katie is just not for the people, lets put it that way. She only cares about herself and scoring points. There is so much drama and Katie almost fuels that by creating such a toxic environment. She tries to be motivating and positive but it comes off super fake. When you first join she will make it seem like it's a family and the athletes will almost fool you into thinking its such a great team but then by the time I was a sophomore I knew it was such BS. I would have transferred if I wasn't already cemented in my major and paid so much money to this expensive school. There is not team chemistry or bonding and Katie seems to favor distance over everything else unless you run really fast or jump far. She even selectively chooses certsin events to post on the youtube page. She will film various races hut if they arent good enough for her you will never see the footage. The jumps coach trashes the multis coach. Katie talks negative about the multis coach. The hurdle coach is sooooo chill. Honestly if they got rid of the Jamaican coach and Katie and had the hurdles coach and multis coach be the only coaches then I would recommend the school fully. I don't know much about the throws, they practice at a completely different time. But again Katie should not be a head coach. She also doesn't know how to budget and plays favorites ESP with scholarship money and race opportunities. She will allow selected people to compete at certain meets even if they arent as fast as someone else just because she liked them over other people who may be just as qualified if not more. Again DO NOT go here as long as Katie is the head coach. You legit will waste your entire college career and end up getting slower or hurt

Coach Fakas seemed to target certain people on the team, treating them unfairly and harsher than the rest. And I’m sad to say that these people were the only people on the team that were not white. Additionally, she did not seem motivated, empathetic or aware. Overall, I would say avoid her if you can.
