You will become his outlet to his problems

Mr. Wallace has been the biggest manipulator I have met. He is very good at twisting words and making our lives miserable. If the team is winning games, he will be the funniest, coolest person to be around. The second the team starts loosing, he will become the most degrading, petty, toxic, and mind playing individual you will ever meet on this planet. If you play for him, you will either need to be really good at standing up for yourself or you are going to have to learn to stand up for yourself. Which is sad because when you are away from home your "new home" is supposed to be a good support system. If you research his background, his first college job at Fullerton Community College, only lasted not even a full season. His next coaching job At San Bernardino lasted the longest of 3 years due to a disagreement between him and the head coach. Then he only last a year at La Verne University because the players immediately saw his true colors and resisted him. The upcoming season of 2024, West Cliff was in desperate need of a head coach mid year. Now, this man is very good at lying and manipulating. I thought he was a genuine, great person. In fact, I told many people back home that I was grateful for crossing paths with him. It only took a few games for me to see that he was going to be my worst living nightmare. The weekend of Feb 23rd and 24th. That Friday we won the first game then lost the 2nd. He was very unhappy with many things. Saturday morning comes and he was already mad and grumpy. His body language was giving the girls anxiety. When we finally set up our equipment for pregame warm up. He yelled at us and gave us a big speech on how we are selfish people and if our parents told us we were good, that our parents lied to our faces and if our parents still think that we're good then they can have a conversation with Coach Wallace the Great (yes, he calls himself that). We got yelled many more things after that and we still had to play two full. News Flash we lost both and errors were made left and right and there was only two hits. That time was forgotten because we won the next 8 games after that and he was a funny, cool, collective coach. Until we lost to two games to Avila. After those games we all witness Wallace at the verge of tears telling us that he is the best coach we will ever come across and this is how we repay him. Granted if you look at the 2023-2024 schedule. You will see that we played two games Friday, two games Saturday, and we were playing Avila twice on Sunday. Avila was our 5th and 6th game that weekend while we were their 1st games that weekend. The next series we won 3 out of the 4 games. We most likely did get in trouble for that one loss. However, it felt like a slap on the wrist compared to his previous reactions. Keep in mind, when we loose, practice everyday is living hell. This whole season we never had a good practice where he was satisfied or even okay with. Which was exhausting having to work hard for 4 1/2 hours. Having to consistently sprint foul poles because someone made an error or someone said the wrong thing. Now the first weekend of April comes up. It is our first travel series. This series was the biggest emotional roller coaster we all went through. We spilt with Simpson and he made it extremely hard for many of us to be okay to mentally perform. In fact, the first day in between games, he got mad at us for making our sandwiches instead of taking extra reps because we suck. We were all starving after the game and to hear our coach say we need to put more effort into softball and not sandwich making made me not want to eat at all. Another fun fact, I lost 25 lbs after this season. The next series is my favorite to talk about because we were playing against the #1 seed and we are the #2 seed. The first game we lost 16-9. the reason why we were able to get 9 runs is because they put their 3rd string pitcher in after they scored 16 runs. After that game, that was the first time he barley said or expressed much. He said "you can either let this define the rest of the day or let it stings us so we can sting right back." That was probably the first time I felt us relax and come together as a whole. The game after that we beat them 7-0. That day we were their 2nd conference lost. Everyone was so happy and the vibes were so good. The following day we arrived and in my opinion we were putting up a good flight, Defense was playing lights out, hitters were making contact. We were going into the 6th inning loosing 0-2. Wallace was not happy at all. Before we went out to take the field, he once again became very petty, angry, and condescending. Every time he does this we have never responded well. So we lost that game 4-0. Once again, he is mad, yelling, degrading, making unnecessary comments, petty, and was very expressive with his anger. We then lost the game after that 10-0. The next series comes around and we lost 2 out of the 3 games. He ended up kicking the fence, making us wait 3 and a half hours for dinner. There was so much more that happened this series however, I am pretty sure you get the idea and pattern. Two days before we left for the conference tournament he said "I do want to apologize for my anger and behavior, I'm used to coaching badass players and clearly I was not fortunate enough to have that this season." We were the #2 seed in the conference, but once the conference tournament came we were the very first team to be eliminated. As a team we were beyond burnt out. With no little fight left on the team. Another thing to add to the list is that Mr. Wallace gave us new pitching signs an hour before the first conference game. We did in fact have a lot of miscommunication during that game. I absolutely could not stand him and always felt like I need to have a high guard up because of all the mind games he constantly plays. However, we have long bus rides, gas station stops, team dinners/breakfasts, study hall, the hotel lobby meetings. I did not want to say a word, look his direction, or even be near him. But we had no choice,

    Poor Communication

My experience at CSUSB under coach payan was absolutely miserable. The back and forth mind games made it unclear her expectations. I would be forced to have private meetings where it was a one sided discussion of what a horrible teammate and person I was. But I wasn’t able to tell anyone. I was never allowed to defend myself and give my side of the story. She tries to make it a point of team culture but provides a toxic environment of “culture”. It’s her way or the highway. She communicates in a passive aggressive way to her players by making snarky comments and ignoring players if she’s mad at you. I had once been ignored for a week by her with no explanation. When I had family issues I was never able to leave because I had to be at practice but others girls had family problems and they were allowed to miss as much time as needed.
