Chris Pollard is a general. If you don't understand that college sports are a business, you will not understand or appreciate Coach Pollard. If you can appreciate that Duke University is spending 6-figures a year on your athletic development and Chris Pollard is being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to win baseball games in the ACC, you'll understand why decisions are made with risk mitigation in mind, playing time is a resource investment, and strategy is over long time horizons.
