Coach Hovis is one of the best coaches I have ever had. She truly cares about performance on the water and off the water. She is intense and passionate, and will not hesitate to push you to your limit. Despite this, she can be a shoulder to cry on, and is always there to catch you when you fall. She is genuine and caring and will crack a joke at the drop of a hat. She is observant, and knowledgeable, and does not hold back on telling you what she thinks. She cares about her rowers as people, and pushes you in all the right ways. She is the perfect balance of everything a coach should be.
