I was definitely not a good athlete and only ran track because I was required to and because my friends were on the team. While I didnt take the sport seriously, khayla made me want to care more and do better— I knew that if I didnt try for her I wouldn’t be wasting only my time but hers, which is something I didnt want to do because I respected my coach as a person so much. Even though I was no where close to the fastest I still got individualized help and coaching from her although I knew she had a million and more important other things to do and people to help. She never made the less athletic people feel like they were less or not worth the effort. She is incredible funny, inspiring and honest. She expressed personal interest in my art, which whe didnt have to do since it was was not related to track. Track is not an easy sport but if I didnt have khaylas leadership it would have been even harder. I thank her for giving me one of my first and only positive experiences with a coach and team, a very formative experience that I am endlessly grateful for.
