Mike creates a toxic team culture that is heavily ego driven. He has failed to adapt to evolving approaches towards the sport, to make up the difference his conclusion is that the athletes just aren’t driven enough (He loves to talk about his bronze medal) making him a dinosaur. I know multiple highly regarded rowers who said he made them full out love with the sport. With all this being said he does hold value to fairness and seat racing meaning although he has toxic values he doesn’t have favorites yet, if you are fast, you can get away with murder.
