Longwood athletics showed how much they do not care about their women’s lacrosse program when they didn’t conduct a national search after Ferguson left, and just hired Hicks. If they were in a hurry to fill the position, he should have been an interim hire. He would probably make a decent club coach, but he doesn’t understand the game well enough to be coaching D1. They did the same drills day after day, barely worked on shooting, which was obvious in how few goals we scored, and sabotaged a program that was on the upswing. Longwood ADs also did not listen to concerns of almost every player and parent. 8 or 9 players left or entered the portal, 7 graduated and at least 2 incoming players decommitted. I’ve also seen D2 and D3 schools with much nicer facilities.
