Coach Brian Daley cut the majority of the returning roster at Alabama A&M, most of them Black, telling players they “weren’t D1 material” and that the program was “going in another direction.” He replaced them with a roster he described as “real D1 players,” but the team went winless in the fall, a developmental season normally played against less competitive opponents. The results raise serious questions: 1. What did “going in another direction” really mean??? 2. Do Brian Daley’s constant claims and posturing as a “D1” coach match the outcomes he delivered?
