Katie H****r is now the head coach of MSU Denver women’s soccer in the RMAC. I played under her for one season as she took over a winning team my senior year. She absolutely destroyed the program in 4 months. Went from a NCAA appearance team from the 2024 season to not making our own conference tournament in 2025. She used foul language repeatedly, made excessive calls and texts to myself and others at inappropriate times (at night) when she had all day after our 7am practices to have any type of conversation, she withheld meals after losses/failed to feed us all 3 meals a day on away trips while also not cooperating with dietary restrictions for meals on away trips for my gluten allergy and other teammates with the same allergy, she also restricted what could and could not be consumed when making our own food purchases on away trips when she was actively failing to feed us, she told players they don’t have a voice unless they are a captain, renamed our freshman keeper because said player “didn’t deserve to be called by her real name”, instead of giving gear to players she gave our gear to her kids and family, she denied access to trusted personal for personal conversations and only allows players to talk to those people with her present or to her only, and I had a seizure and became unconscious for over an hour, was transported to the hospital on an away trip and she failed to contact my parents or make sure anyone contacted my parents about the situation and my parents heard from myself after I regained consciousness, and lastly, she utilized our bus driver as an uber to the bars to the point where he, in front of us players, said he would not take her to the bars anymore, but that never stopped her from drinking alcohol on away trips. From my personal work at Colorado rapids youth soccer club I have also learned that in her process of hiring a new assistant coach, she interviewed a fellow colleague and told him that “he was more experienced than her in this position and she did not want anymore who knew more than her to step on her toes”. She is a danger to the women’s soccer team at metro and more action needs to be taken. This has all been communicated to the athletic director Todd Thurman and he has allowed her to continue coaching young women and I fear for their well being and mental health under her as a coach. Future athletes should expect the large possibility of them quitting or transferring after being coached by Katie H****r. And they should also expect to not have a voice, to feed themselves on away trips, and to just accept that coach H****r only cares about trying to win no matter what or who it costs.
