As a parent of an RMU lacrosse player, I can honestly say that our experience with Coach Grove and the program has been extremely positive. Over the past three years, Coach Grove and her staff have been building a program the right way. Rather than constantly rebuilding the roster, they have focused on developing a strong core group of players, empowering them to grow, and bringing in recruits who complement the team and buy into what they are trying to accomplish. The program has continued to grow, bringing in a class of 16 players followed by another class of 12, with no transfers out of that first group. That speaks volumes about the direction of the program and the culture being built. Coach Grove is soft-spoken, but don’t mistake that for a lack of leadership. She is developing players who understand that lacrosse is a team sport, where accountability, unselfishness, and team success matter more than individual statistics. In our experience, RMU has been a tremendous fit for our daughter. She has grown not only as a lacrosse player but, more importantly, as a person. Coach Grove has played a significant role in that development, and we appreciate the environment she and her staff have helped create. I would encourage anyone reading the negative reviews on this site to remember that every situation has more than one side. Reviews based on individual disagreements or unhappy departures do not necessarily reflect the experience of the entire team or the direction of the program. We are happy with our daughter’s experience at RMU and believe Coach Grove is building something special. I would encourage prospective players and their families to look at the bigger picture, ask questions, speak with current players and parents, and form their own opinions rather than letting a handful of negative reviews make that decision for them.
