Coach Raba is an outstanding coach who truly cares about his players. He is an incredible mentor and excels in his communication. The effort he puts into building relationships with each of his players throughout the year is remarkable. I’m constantly amazed at how he manages his time to make every player feel valued and understand the importance of their role. You truly can’t pay this man enough money for the return he has on player development as well as so many of our alarms go on to be extremely successful later on in life. Year in and year out he seems to have that magic touch of bringing in the right types of players that was succeeded at Wesleyan. Not only does he develop great athletes, but more importantly, he helps shape outstanding individuals who leave Wesleyan ready to succeed in life. His consistency in messaging, regardless of the team’s success, is unmatched. During my time at Wesleyan, even in challenging years, Coach Raba remained the most positive and supportive person on the field. Having been at Wesleyan for over 25 years, it’s amazing to see the deep connections and relationships he maintains with the entire team. He’s also done an excellent job of hiring assistant coaches over the years, creating a strong balance between long-term staff who bring loyalty and commitment and newer coaches who bring fresh perspectives. Despite some assistants being part-time, the dedication and love they show for the program make it feel like they’re full-time. We are incredibly fortunate to have a coach of his caliber at this level, especially considering his many responsibilities on campus beyond coaching. Anyone lucky enough to play under Coach Raba will undoubtedly have an unforgettable and positive experience.

Absolutely amazing man and tremendous coach. Wesleyan is extremely fortunate to have someone of his caliber and experience there for so long. My brother is plays for other college programs and wasn’t even close to my experience. Coach does amazing job cycling through young assistance and he’s always able to keep consistency within the program.

Coach Raba is the best lacrosse coach I have ever had. He knows the ins and outs of the game and allows me to get better every day. He coaches the top guy on the team and the bottom, and makes sure everyone is working hard the entire practice. Our team is held together by coach and we want to win for him.

John Raba is the best coach I have ever had and one of the best men I have ever known. He treats his players with respect as if they're a part of his own family. He cultivates a culture of great men both on and off the field. Without him, Wesleyan Lacrosse wouldn't have a national championship.

Raba is the absoulute best coach , and to be honest he should be coaching at the next level. He brought his team to three final four appearances, and has over 250 wins. That is unbelievable at a place like Wesleyan where athletics is not supported that well. He is Wesleyan Lacrosse!, Once he leaves you will see his true impact he made.
