If you are looking for a college baseball coach who treats 40-degree Pittsburgh spring doubleheaders like prime midsummer or October baseball, Coach Nic Rush is your guy. Chatham baseball hasn't had decades of entrenched D3 history to cruise on, and Rush coaches with the chip on his shoulder of a man determined to put the program on the map one gritty at-bat, one dirt-ball block, and one 90-foot sprint at a time. He demands accountability, expects you to play fast, and has zero patience for anyone jogging down the first-base line—even on a routine pop-up to short. He will challenge you, occasionally roast your pitch selection in front of everyone, and definitely make you question your life choices during conditioning. But when you make a play, execute a bunt, or shut down an inning, nobody in the Presidents' Athletic Conference is fired up harder for you than him.

Lies and gaslighting like no other. Will make you think you're doing excellent and give you all the confidence just to strip it away from you. You will give everything, all of your effort, and still face absolutely no reward. Plays mind games constantly and then acts shocked when you stand up for yourself like your words are out of the blue. Expects D1 committment out of players. She states that she prioritizes academics, when in reality you will indirectly be punished and pushed to the side unless you are a top priority player if you begin to struggle. Team itself is clique-y at times and does not always feel inclusive as the coach makes it feel as though we are all at each others necks, competing to be the best. While this can be good at times and is respectable, it tears the team apart. I felt as though I could not trust anyone on this team or rely on the coaches. The jokes about trauma bonding with each other were rampant. Betsy pushes for checking in and keeping a positive mental well-being, but my mental health was at its worst when I was a part of the team she created. I could not even talk to her or address her as an adult, as she would stare at the ground or back away from you when you would walk up to her. The emphasis on a supportive collective could not be any further from the truth. My time on this team genuninely made me hate a sport that had been such a major part of me and my perosnality for the greater part of my life. I lost touch of myself and who I wanted to be from my experience on this team and am so glad I had the awareness to realize this and get away before I lost myself entriely. The time on this team and with Betsy, I am still grateful for as I learned how to stand up and advocate for myself in a respectful against those who so blatantly do not respect me.
